Animated Ragnarok guild emblem — 24×24 GIF

Servers that support animated emblems accept a 24×24 GIF with up to 256 colours, where hot pink (#FF00FF) shows as see-through. Pick any animated GIF: every frame is resized to 24×24, all frames share one 256-colour palette with the pink key reserved, the original timing is kept and the loop is set to repeat forever. The result is checked against the 50 KB server limit before you download.

Server support varies. Animated emblems work on servers running the rAthena web service with GIF emblems enabled and a 2019 or newer client; MuhRO, for example, documents 24×24, GIF and a 50 KB maximum. Other servers accept only the static BMP made above. Put emblem.gif in your client’s Emblem folder and choose it from the guild window as guild master.

How to change your Ragnarok Online guild emblem

  1. Create your emblem above — upload a picture or draw one with the pixel editor.
  2. Click Download to save emblem.bmp to your computer.
  3. Copy emblem.bmp into your Ragnarok Online game folder.
  4. In-game, press Alt+G to open the Guild window.
  5. Go to the Guild Info tab and click the emblem area.
  6. Browse to emblem.bmp and select it.

Only the Guild Master can change the emblem. Other members will see it after relogging or changing maps.

About Ragnarok Online guild emblems

Ragnarok Online's guild emblem is a 24×24 pixel BMP saved into the game's Emblem folder before you ever open the Guild window. The format predates standard alpha channels: the engine treats one specific colour — bright magenta, #FF00FF — as transparent at draw time. Anything you leave transparent in this editor is written as magenta in the file, and RO renders those pixels as the underlying UI showing through. Avoid pink in your design even as shading, or you'll punch holes in unexpected places.

Once the BMP is in place, press Alt+G to open the Guild window. The Guild Info tab shows the emblem area; clicking it opens a file dialog. Only the Guild Master can register the emblem, and other members see the change after a relog or map transition. The emblem also surfaces next to member names in chat, on the War of Emperium scoreboard during Castle War, and on the castle flagpole when your guild owns the castle.

Which servers? Since 2022 the official Philippine server has been Ragnarok Online GGH, run by Gravity Game Hub for the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore after the old RO MSP service closed in November 2021; most players still call it ROPH. Ragnarok Zero: Global, the classic-style PC server Gravity Game Unite launched on 18 August 2026 for Southeast Asia, Europe and Oceania, also has guilds with emblems. The emblem file made here is the standard RO one, but we have not yet confirmed Zero Global's emblem rules from an official source. If the guild window rejects it, check whether the guild master has registered the emblem and that the file is still 24×24, then let us know through the feedback button.

At 24×24 you have a little more room than most MMOs — enough for a recognisable monster silhouette, a stylised weapon, or two-character text. Bold outlines with magenta breathing space around them survive WoE chaos best, where the emblem is glimpsed quickly amid effects.

Design tips for RO emblems. RO's player base has a long tradition of class-themed emblems (a wizard hat, an assassin dagger, an acolyte cross, the iconic Poring slime) and monster-card-themed designs from popular farms. The 8-bit indexed palette plus the magenta transparency key means you have effectively 255 usable colours; spend them on contrast rather than gradients. If you want a circular emblem, draw it centered with magenta corners — the circle floats free of any background. Avoid pure black at the very edges; anti-aliasing during downscale can shift edge pixels to near-magenta values that turn into accidental transparency. Use the multi-background preview here — especially against the dark Castle Walls and the bright Prontera town floor — to confirm the emblem reads in the two most common display contexts.

Emblem rejected or not showing? Common fixes

  • The file dialog can't find emblem.bmp. It must sit in the Emblem folder inside your RO installation folder (create the folder next to the game executable if it's missing) before you open Alt+G.
  • “Incorrect file” or the upload silently fails. RO wants exactly 24×24 pixels as an 8-bit (256-colour) BMP. Larger images or 24-bit files from Paint/Photoshop are refused — the download from this page is already correct; don't re-save it.
  • Random holes in the emblem in-game. Near-magenta pixels from anti-aliased edges render as transparent. Keep pink out of the design and run Enhance to solidify edges.
  • The emblem option is greyed out. Only the Guild Master can register an emblem, and some servers require the guild's Approval/Emblem skill first.
  • Guildmates still see the old emblem. They pick it up after a relog or map change — not instantly.

Use the animated emblem section: upload any GIF and get a 24×24, 256-colour emblem.gif with hot pink (#FF00FF) as the see-through colour, checked against the common 50 KB limit. Animated emblems need a server running the rAthena web service with GIF emblems enabled and a 2019+ client; others only accept the static BMP.

The 24×24 BMP emblem is the long-standing format on the PC client used by iRO (International), kRO (Korea), jRO (Japan), thRO (Thailand), Ragnarok Online GGH (the official Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore server, still called ROPH by many players) and rAthena/Hercules community servers. Ragnarok Zero: Global only launched in August 2026, so if its guild window refuses the file, tell us and we will check the format.

Ragnarok Online uses bright pink (magenta) as the transparent color. Any area you leave transparent in the editor will automatically become magenta in the downloaded file, and the game renders those pixels as see-through. Avoid using bright pink in your actual design.

RO renders every bright-magenta (#FF00FF) pixel as transparent — including ones you didn't intend. This usually comes from anti-aliased edges: when a larger image is shrunk to 24×24, edge pixels can blend toward near-magenta values and vanish in-game. Run Enhance to snap edge pixels to solid colours, keep pink out of the design entirely, and check the checkerboard “Trans” preview before downloading.

Into a folder named Emblem inside your Ragnarok Online installation folder (the one holding the game executable) — create it if it doesn't exist — before you open the Guild window. On most installs that's C:\Program Files\Gravity\Ragnarok Online\Emblem\; private servers use an Emblem folder inside their own client folder the same way. Then press Alt+G, open Guild Info, click the emblem area and pick the file.

No — only the Guild Master sees it apply instantly. Everyone else picks up the new emblem after a relog or a map change, so don't panic mid-WoE if half the guild still shows the old badge for a few minutes.
